These are matching games for syllable division practice. Three different sets of words, (one compound words, one closed syllable, one open syllable) These go nicely with All About Reading level 2 lessons 6 and 10 as extra practice. Each set has 12 words for a total of 36 words in this bundle (each split onto two cards)
How to play:
Lay all cards from one category (each category has a different picture on the back of the card) with the word side facing down. Keep cards with orange outlines in a separate pile from the black outlines.
Take turns flipping two cards over at a time trying to get a match. (one card from orange pile and one from black)
Each player must read the syllables to see if they made a match.
Keep the answer sheet displayed to double check your word and make sure it's one of the matches (since there may be some combos that make real words but isn't on this list)
If the player gets a match, they get to take another turn and so on until they do not get a match, then it's the next persons turn.
Once all cards have been matched, each player counts how many pairs they have. Whoever has the most wins.
Alternative ways to play are listed in the instructions in the downloads.
